Pete joined the Gambling Commission on 1 May 2026 as the new Independent Member of the Audit and Risk Committee. The role is crucial in bringing an external perspective to the Committee, offering constructive challenge, and helping to ensure the Commission maintains high standards of accountability and assurance.

Pete is a strategic risk, assurance and governance leader with over 20 years of experience across central government, housing, healthcare, regulation and the charity sectors. Pete has a strong track record of building, leading and transforming high‑performing assurance functions at executive and board level. He is also a former Deputy Director at the Government Internal Audit Agency, where he expanded specialist digital, commercial, grants and programme assurance capabilities, established new income‑generating services, and led large multidisciplinary teams delivering at scale.

Pete is currently serving as Interim Director of Risk & Assurance at Platform Housing Group, and as an NHS Non‑Executive Director and Audit Committee Chair, providing authoritative oversight, constructive challenge and trusted advice to Boards and senior executives on risk appetite, governance effectiveness, regulatory compliance and organisational transformation.
